Colonel T. R. (Bob) Henderson a
very famous arctophile. Teddy
Girl was the
lifetime companion of Colonel "Bob" Henderson,
who served during the 2nd World War. After the war,
Colonel Henderson dedicated his life to collecting bears.
He realized that there was much more to teddy
bears, that they often
exercised a power for good with adults, He founded
the charitable organisation "Good Bears of the
World", that distributes Teddy bears for children
in need all over the world. He soon became one of the
world's most renowned bear lovers and Teddy Girl also
benefited from his rise of fame, receiving a proper
mention in each publication. Teddy Girl, a Steiff bear
from 1904 was one of the oldest teddy bears in UK. Colonel
Bob died in 1990. In December 1994, Mr Yoshi Sekiguchi
bought Teddy Girl for 110,000 English Pound, a world
record price. Teddy Girl is now the star attraction
at the Izu Teddy Bear Museum in Japan. The replica is
made of cinnamon mohair. The bear were produced in a
limited edition of 2000. Teddy Girl is 20 cm tall and
fully jointed.
