The Berliner Bear, a
world-famous heraldic bear
|
Once you enter the capital city of Germany, Berlin,
the bear will always be with you. He adorns the flag
and is shown on all escutcheons and the city seal. You
will also find him on postcards, souvenirs, as a stuffed
toy and in many comic strips, as heraldic animal of
the German Capital in the name of enterprises or on
labels of goods produced in Berlin. Berlin
has seen many changes since it was founded ( app. 1180,
officially 1237) - but one thing remains intact- the
Berliner Bear. Here
are pictures from some of these "Berliner bears"
which you always could buy in a lot of souvenir-shops
from Berlin

The
teddy bear on the right was produced to
a special event
The
Reichstag is the new capitol building of united Germany.
The Bundestag, or government, of Germany holds
its meetings here. On June 17, 1995 the famous artist
Cristo wrapped the Reichstag, bringing focus to the
building which had been ignored. Five million people
visited to see the building put to peace. And therefore
the famous bear manufacture Hermann produced the wrapped
teddy bear. This
bear is approx. 45cm tall and he was produced in a limited
edition of only 100 teddy bears.
