The NIVEA
story begins in 1911 with the groundbreaking discovery
of Eucerit, the first water-in-oil emulsifier. This
was the first time a stable emulsion of this type had
been created. In December of that year the world's first
long-lasting skin cream came onto the market. The scientist
who discovered this amazing emulsion, Dr. Oscar Troplowitz,
named it NIVEA, from the Latin word "nivius"
meaning "snow-white". Throughout,
NIVEA's promise has been constant - to develop skincare
products that are effective, mild and gentle which work
in harmony with the skin to bring out and enhance its
natural beauty. Now Nivea is sold in 150 countries
around the world.
