Katjes Rucksack

An advertising-bear from Katjes with a rich content. This bear were made as a backpack, and he was filled with many Katjes Lakritz packets. The bear is approximately 39 tall.

In 1910 Xaver Fassin brings a recipe for the manufacture of liquorice home with him from Sicily. His son, Klaus Fassin, makes use of it and calls his first liquorice product "Katjes", which means "little kitten" in Dutch.

Today ; Katjes is a well established brand with unique liquorice, fruit gum and candy products. As number three in the German candy market, Katjes is very popular among consumers.

Katjes is driven by the energy and experience of a dynamic family-owned enterprise with 440 skilled employees. In two modern industrial plants in Emmerich on the Rhine - near the German-Dutch border - 40,000 tonnes of fruit and liquorice gums are produced every year, corresponding to about 200 million bags.
