Sacré-Coeur
Grand Arche Eiffel-Tower Notre-Dame Sacré-Coeur Triumphe Bows Hotel

In front of the Basilica, you can see the whole city of Paris

The hill of Montmatre in the North of Paris rises 129 meters about sea-level. It is the highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower.

In 1870 war broke out between France and Prussia. The project to built the Sacré Coeur was initated by a group of influential people who wanted to build the monument as moral condemnation of the sins of Paris. They vowed to build a church conseccrated to the Heart of Christ in reparation. The Roman-Byzantyne architectural syle of the basilica stands in sharp contrast with other contemporary buildings in France, which were in a Romanesque style.
