In Asakusa, not far from our Ryokan, we visited Sensô-ji. This temple is popularly known as Asakusa Kannon. Famous is the enormous large red lantern in the gate from this temple. Opposite the temple lies the Nakamise-dôri. It is an alleyway packed with shops selling rice crackers, toys, umbrellas and wall papers. Tokyo is one giganttic shopping mall. Specifically in Ginza. But the town has also quiet zones. For example at the Imperial Palace and nearby the Tokyo Tower, at the Shiba-park.
The Tokyo Tower is 333m heigh. In 2005 he will be celebrates his 50th birthday. You can visit the main observatory (150m) and / or the special observatory (250m). From both stations you wil have an impressive view to Tokyo (and with a little bit luck, to Mt. Fuji)
We visited Tokyo in August. Summer in Tokyo is unpleasantly hot and humid. Therefore it is a good idea to visit Nikko.  This
famous city lies in a mountainous region and therefore it is there a colder and better climate as in Tokyo.
