The last days in Japan we spent in Osaka. Like Tokyo, Osaka improves on closer inspection. This city is
famous for good food and entertainment. At first we visited Osaka Castle. The construction on Osaka Castle were started in 1583. In 1665 the main tower was struck by lightning and was lost in fire. In 1931 the main tower were
rebuilt, but lost again in World War II by intense bombing. Now the Osaka Castle is a reconstruction of the former castle. A museum is located inside the tower, and the topmost floor has been turned into a observation deck.
Another good view over Osaka we found in the Floating Garden Observatory, in Shin-Umeda City. This Floating Garden is about 170 meters above ground, and offers a grand view of Osaka. The next good view point of Osaka we
found nearby Hanshin Umeda Station. On the roof from the departmant store “Hep Five” stands a Giant Ferries Wheel. A trip with this giant-wheel is a new experience. Another Giant Ferris Wheel you can find in Osaka’s waterfront
amusement area the Tempozan Harbor Village. It is one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world. Only the London-Eye is some meters higher. But in this area you can find a wide variety of amusements. For example the Universal
Studios Japan, the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, the Suntory Museum or the Osaka Maritime Museum. Actually, we wanted to make a trip from Osaka to Himeji Castle. Unfortunately a typhoon foiled that plan. But Osaka is a pretty
city, we enjoyed our stay very much.
