Hong Kong has a land area of about 1,100 square kilometres and ove 260 islands. The biggest islands are Lantau Island, Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island. A British Crown Colony for mor than 150 years, Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty on 1July 1997, and it is now a Special Administrative Region of the People�s Republic of China.
Hong Kong has a subtropical climate with distinct seasonal changes.
