Lantau is the largest island of Hong Kong. The island is very mountainous. On the peak of one mountain you can see now the Giant Buddha. The 34 metres high bronze Buddha, is the world largest, seated, outdoor, bronze Buddha. The monastery nearby Big Buddha, was built in the early 19th century. It is the Ngong Ping Po Lin Monastery, located at 450 meters on the Ngong Ping Plateau. |
